O. Selekhmeteva beat A. Ito 6-2, 6-4 at the US Open. She converted four break points on Ito's serve and saved three of the four break points she faced, setting up a straight-sets win.
In the first set, Selekhmeteva broke in the opening game and again in game three to move 3-0 ahead before closing out 6-2. She repeated that double-break start in the second set, with breaks at 0-1 and 0-3. Ito pulled one back at 2-4 in game six, but Selekhmeteva finished the set 6-4.
The second serve decided the match: Selekhmeteva won 17 of 22 points (77%) returning Ito's second delivery and 14 of 26 points (54%) on her own second serve. Ito managed only five of 22 points (23%) behind her second serve.
