E. Aguiard came from a set down to beat K. Isomura 6-7, 7-5, 7-6 at the Zhangjiagang China event, taking the decider in another tie-break. The winner's serve was the headline: 21 aces to seven and 7 of 10 break points saved.
Isomura edged the opener in a tie-break, but Aguiard levelled in a second set that featured repeated swings and ended 7-5. The final set went the same way, with breaks exchanged before Aguiard broke to level at 6-6 and then won the tie-break.
Aguiard's 21 aces were the standout number, and he also won 71% of first-serve points to Isomura's 66%. Isomura shaded total service points 81-80, but Aguiard's return game, 50 return points won to 43, proved decisive.
