Grêmio reached the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals with a 3-1 win over Internacional at home. A two-goal burst from Carlos Vinícius inside the opening 22 minutes put Grêmio in control, and they never looked back.
Carlos Vinícius struck first from close range in the 14th minute, then doubled the lead on 22 with Francis Amuzu providing the assist. Filip Krovinović made it 3-0 in the 68th minute after another Amuzu pass, before Vitinho pulled one back for Internacional in the 79th minute from Alan Patrick's delivery.
The scoreline flattered Grêmio's efficiency rather than their overall control. Internacional had more possession (59%), far more shots (21 to 9) and won 12 corners to four, but Grêmio took their chances, scoring three of their four big chances; their goalkeeper also made six saves to keep Internacional at bay.
