Gimnasia y Esgrima Mendoza beat Independiente 0-3 in the Superliga, with all three goals coming in an 18-minute spell either side of half-time. The away side were efficient in front of goal, while Independiente could not turn their pressure into a goal.
Esteban Fernández opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, finishing after Lencioni provided the assist. Lencioni then scored twice in quick succession, in the 53rd and 60th minutes, with Esteban Fernández setting up both, to make it 0-3.
Independiente had more of the ball, 58% to 42%, and more accurate passes, 366 to 248, with total shots level at 11 each. Yet Gimnasia's goalkeeper made four saves, and Lencioni's brace, plus Esteban Fernández's goal and two assists, proved decisive.
