Francesco Iannaccone beat Lorenzo Wiedenmann 6-3, 6-4 in Biella, recovering from an early break to take control with three breaks of his own. His first serve did the damage: 30 of 38 first-serve points won across the match, against 24 of 40 for Wiedenmann.
Wiedenmann broke in the opening game of the match to lead 0-1, but the set turned when Iannaccone broke back at 3-3 and broke again at 5-3 to close it out. The second set stayed on serve until Iannaccone converted at 4-3, the only break of the set, and served it out from there.
The clearest number was on return: Iannaccone won 40% of first-serve return points to Wiedenmann's 21%, and 31 receiver points in all to 19. He also hit all four aces of the match, while Wiedenmann had none.
