Preston North End beat Huddersfield Town 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the EFL Cup first round. Jusef Erabi's 90th-minute equaliser forced the shoot-out, and Preston's composure from the spot saw them through.
Radinio Balker put Huddersfield ahead in the 38th minute from Lasse Sørensen's assist. Preston pushed for an equaliser and got it in the 90th minute when Jusef Erabi finished Delano Burgzorg's assist. Lewis Gibson had been sent off in the 21st minute, but the tie was level after 90 minutes.
Huddersfield had more of the ball (54%) and created four big chances against Preston's one, but both sides managed ten shots. Erabi's stoppage-time goal was the key moment, and Preston edged the shoot-out 4-3.
