Darmstadt 98 fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Holstein Kiel, leaving both sides with a point. Kiel looked in control after scoring twice in the first half, but Darmstadt rescued a share of the spoils with two late goals.
Guillermo Balzi opened the scoring for Kiel in the 8th minute, and Phil Harres doubled their lead just before the break in the 42nd minute. Darmstadt pulled one back through Lee Ho-jae in the 76th minute, and Aleksandar Vukotić levelled in the 86th minute after a spell of sustained pressure.
Kiel had by far the better chances, registering five shots on target and three big chances to Darmstadt's none, with a higher expected-goals figure of 1.27 to 0.62. Darmstadt edged possession at 52% and had more total shots, but needed the late rally to avoid defeat.
