KooKoo Kouvola took control early and never trailed, beating Herning Blue Fox 5-2 in regulation in the Champions Hockey League. Ville Puhakka and Santeri Sulku scored before the 10th minute, staking the Finnish side to a 2-0 lead after the opening frame.
Marcus Davidsson pushed the lead to 0-3 at 23:00, and Matteus Soderbom answered for Herning at 27:00 to cut the deficit to 1-3 through two periods. KooKoo then put the game away with goals from Samuel Valkeejärvi at 42:00 and Ossi-Petteri Jaakola at 44:00, making it 1-5 before Mathias Bau Hansen's strike at 49:00 closed the final margin to 2-5.
KooKoo got goals from five different skaters, with Valkeejärvi adding an assist to go with his goal and Vilmos Gallo collecting two helpers. The early road burst was enough to decide the game before the midway point.
