Eisbaren Berlin took it 2-1 at home, and the whole thing was built in a three-minute stretch of the middle period. Herning got one back late but never found the second.
Scoreless after 20, with the game still even at 0-0 into the second. Leonhard Pfoderl broke it open at 30 minutes off a Ty Ronning feed, and Eric Hordler made it 2-0 unassisted at 33 — that was the turning point, a 2-0 cushion after 40. Hjalte Kruse Thomsen, set up by Phillip Louis Schultz, cut it to 2-1 at 55 and that was the extent of the third-period response.
The number that matters: two goals in three minutes accounted for the entire Berlin output. Pfoderl and Hordler were the difference; Ronning's assist on the opener was the only helper Berlin needed.
