Ascoli came from behind to win 2-1 at Hellas Verona, despite being heavily outplayed. Verona had 25 shots to Ascoli's nine and an expected goals count of 2.88 to 0.91, yet it was Ascoli who took the points with two goals in three second-half minutes.
Samuele Mulattieri put Verona ahead in the 21st minute from Andréa Le Borgne's assist. Ascoli levelled through Andrea Silipo on 53 minutes, with Amine Chakir providing the pass, and then struck again three minutes later when Simone D'Uffizi converted Samuele Damiani's cross to make it 2-1.
The margin of Verona's dominance was striking: seven shots on target, four big chances and three big chances missed, while Ascoli had just three shots on target. Ascoli goalkeeper made six saves to keep his side in front, and Ascoli edged possession with 54%.
