PEC Zwolle won 2-0 at SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie, with both goals arriving in the second half. The visitors were clinical despite seeing much less of the ball, while Heerenveen failed to turn their possession into goals.
The game was goalless until the 50th minute, when Nick Viergever scored from Dylan Mbayo's assist. Mbayo turned provider again eleven minutes later as Koen Kostons made it 2-0, and Zwolle saw the game out. Ryan Thomas was booked before half-time, with Kostons and Marcus Linday also going into the book after the break.
The scoreline did not reflect Heerenveen's dominance in possession – they had 64% of the ball to Zwolle's 36% – but the visitors had more shots (20 to 18) and a higher expected-goals figure (1.41 to 0.85). Zwolle created the better chances and took them when it mattered, with both goals coming from Mbayo assists.
