The first period ended 1-1 before Regensburg turned up the forecheck in the second, scoring three to Innsbruck's two and opening a 4-3 edge. Innsbruck pushed back with the only goal of the third, knotting it at 4-4 and forcing the extra frame. Overtime remained scoreless, sending it to the shootout.
