HC Slovan Ústí nad Labem beat SK Trhači Kadaň 8-3, winning all three periods (2-1, 2-1, 4-1) and finishing the game in regulation. A four-goal third period put the game out of reach.
Ústí opened at 7' and Kadaň answered four minutes later, but a 20' goal gave the home side a 2-1 lead at the first break. Early in the second, Ústí made it 3-1 at 21', and after Kadaň trimmed the deficit at 27', a 31' strike restored the two-goal cushion. The third period was a flurry: goals at 43', 45', 55' and 58' pushed the margin to 8-2 before Kadaň's 59' consolation.
The defining number was eight: Ústí scored eight goals, including four in the final frame. They outscored Kadaň 7-2 from the 11-minute mark onward, and never trailed after the first period.
