Spišská Nová Ves beat HC Slovan Bratislava 6-1 in regulation, turning a one-goal lead into a rout with a three-goal third period. The hosts answered an early deficit and never trailed again after the 11th minute.
Samuel Bucek put Slovan ahead at 5 on a Samuel Takáč feed, but Charles Martin tied it at 11 off Xavier Cormier and Danick Martel made it 2-1 at the horn of the opening period. Martel struck again at 28 for 3-1, and the third period broke it open: Simon Mack at 48 and Cormier at 50 pushed it to 5-1, with Spišská Nová Ves taking all three periods 2-1, 1-0 and 3-0.
Martel's two goals led the way, while Cormier finished with a goal and two assists — the most productive line contribution on the night. Slovan's only answer came inside the first five minutes; they were shut out over the final two periods.
