HC Slovan Bratislava took it 4-2 in Kosice, in regulation, by winning every swing of a four-goal middle period and then closing it out late. Slovan led after each of the three periods, and never trailed.
Ryan Dmowski opened it at 18 for 1-0 on the road, with Samuel Takac assisting, and Kosice came out for the second and answered through Andrej Bires at 25 off Michal Liscinsky. Jonas Peterek made it 2-1 at 32, Patrik Lamper tied it back at 33 off Matus Havrila, and Tomas Marcinko's unassisted goal at 36 proved the turning point for a 3-2 lead after 40. An unattributed Slovan goal at 58 sealed the 4-2.
Dmowski was the difference-maker on the night: a goal and the primary assist on Peterek's go-ahead marker. Kosice scored twice in the second and were blanked in the first and third.
