EHC Chur won 5-2 in regulation at La Chaux-de-Fonds, taking all three periods on the scoresheet: 2-1, 1-0, 2-1. The visitors never trailed after the opening frame and led by the end of every period.
Timo Jenni opened it in the third minute off a Gian-Marco Hammerer feed, Kay Schweri answered at 8 with Emil Molin assisting, and Mike Aeschlimann restored the lead at 11 on a Rihards Melnalksnis setup for a 1-2 first period. Niclas Rentsch, assisted by Jannik Canova, made it 1-3 at 29 — the turning point, as the middle period produced nothing else. Chur pushed it to 1-4 at 51, and the hosts' answer at 59 only trimmed it to 2-4 before the final margin settled at 2-5.
The number that frames it: Chur scored five goals and was in front after all three periods, while La Chaux-de-Fonds managed a single goal in each of the first and third and none in the second. Aeschlimann's 11th-minute strike was the one that held up as the game-winner.
