Olomouc opened the scoring at 11:00 of the first, then extended the cushion to 2-0 at 29:00 and 3-0 at 38:00 in the middle frame. Kometa finally broke through at the 46-minute mark of the third, trimming the final to 3-1, but the visitors' lead was never threatened.
The defining number was that three-goal edge after forty minutes; Kometa was held off the scoresheet until the 46th minute. Olomouc did the damage early, and Brno's modest third-period push only changed the final margin.
