Belfast Giants claimed a 3-6 regulation win over HC Ambrì-Piotta in a Club Friendly, building the result on a commanding middle frame. The visitors led 1-2 after the first period and then pulled away with a two-goal second, taking a 1-4 lead into the third.
The game turned in the second period, when Belfast scored twice while keeping Ambrì-Piotta off the board, stretching the margin that decided the contest. Ambrì-Piotta did match Belfast with two goals apiece in the third, but the early deficit proved insurmountable as the final 3-6 scoreline locked in regulation.
The defining number was the scoreboard after 40 minutes: 1-4. Belfast’s ability to win both the opening and middle periods, then hold on through a split third, gave it the road victory without needing overtime.
