Fortuna Sittard came away from Groningen with a 3-2 win despite seeing only 32% of the ball and facing 22 shots. The visitors were outshot 9-22 but made their chances count, putting five of nine attempts on target.
Mohamed Ihattaren's 12th-minute opener was cancelled out by David van der Werff at 19, after which Lequincio Zeefuik edged Fortuna back ahead on 28. Anthony Descotte extended the lead on 72, and although Justin Hubner's 87th-minute strike gave Groningen hope, the home side could not force an equaliser.
Groningen dominated the underlying numbers too, with 68% possession, 22 shots and an expected-goals tally of 1.47 to Fortuna's 0.88, but only two of their efforts were on target. Fortuna, by contrast, registered five shots on target from nine attempts, with Zeefuik scoring one and assisting another and Édouard Michut setting up two goals.
