FC Groningen won 4-1 at ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie after establishing a three-goal lead inside the first half. They were the far more dangerous side in front of goal, despite having less of the ball.
Thom van Bergen opened the scoring in the 15th minute, and Brynjólfur Darri Willumsson doubled the lead on the half-hour with an assist from Etienne Vaessen. David van der Werff made it 3-0 just before the interval, assisted by Tygo Land. Yannick Eduardo pulled one back for ADO in the 55th minute, but Nils Eggens settled it in the 81st, with van Bergen providing the assist.
ADO had 55% possession, but Groningen were far more threatening, with 14 shots on target to four and an expected-goals count of 3.19 to 0.88. The home side made ten saves, yet still conceded four, and David van der Werff's 83rd-minute booking was the only card.
