Eisbaren Berlin handled Graz 99ers 4-1, and the game was effectively over inside the opening 20 minutes. Berlin scored three times in the first period and never had to chase.
Leonhard Pfoderl opened it at 10 minutes off a feed from Andreas Eder, Markus Vikingstad made it 2-0 at 19 with Eric Mik assisting, and Pfoderl struck again at 20 from Kai Wissmann for 3-0. Graz got one back through Chris Collins at 28, assisted by Frank Hora, to cut it to 3-1, but Eric Mik answered 41 seconds into the third period on a Ty Ronning setup for the 4-1 final.
Pfoderl was the difference with both first-period goals, while Mik finished with a goal and an assist. Berlin's period-by-period ledger — 3-0, 0-1, 1-0 — tells the story of a team that front-loaded the work and then managed it.
