Julia Grabher outlasted Jil Vandromme 6-2, 7-6 to win the WTA 125K Kitzbuhel title, sealed by a dominant first set and clutch serving in the decider. Grabher saved 9 of 13 break points overall, while Vandromme could only save 4 of 10.
Grabher lost the first break of the match at 0-2 in the opening set, but reeled off six straight games, converting breaks in games 3, 5 and 7 to take it 6-2. The second set saw six breaks: Grabher broke immediately, Vandromme twice pulled ahead (at 2-2 and 4-2), but Grabher levelled each time. At 6-5, Grabher broke again, only for Vandromme to break back to 6-6. Grabher then won the deciding tiebreak 7-6.
Grabher’s first-serve points won (66%) and her ability to save 5 of 6 break points in the first set and 4 of 7 in the second proved critical. Vandromme hit only 1 ace to Grabher’s 1, but committed 3 double faults and won just 22 of 45 first-serve points (49%).
