Gimnasia y Esgrima Mendoza won 3-2 at Gimnasia y Esgrima in the Superliga, thanks to an Agustin Modica hat-trick. The visitors surged into a two-goal lead, saw the hosts fight back to level at 2-2, then grabbed the winner through Modica's third.
Modica opened the scoring on 17 minutes from Tomás O'Connor's assist and made it 2-0 on 39. Agustín Auzmendi pulled one back for the hosts on 46, and Maximiliano Zalazar equalised on 62, but Modica completed his hat-trick on 76 with Esteban Fernández providing the assist.
The numbers show Mendoza were clinical rather than controlling: they had 43% possession and one corner to the hosts' six, yet managed six shots on target and an expected-goals total of 2.01. Gimnasia y Esgrima had 57% possession and 14 shots, but converted only one of their two big chances; Mendoza scored from two of theirs.
