Fritz broke in the opener at 4-2, then at 3-2 and 5-2 in the second, and in the first game of the third for 1-0. Blanch saved 10 of 14 break points and pushed the final set to 6-4, but Fritz saved both break points he faced and never surrendered a break.
The decisive edge came on return and second serve. Fritz converted four of 14 break points, while Blanch converted none of his two break points and finished with eight double faults to Fritz's one.
