Adler Mannheim won 4-3 in regulation at Fribourg-Gotteron, answering every Swiss lead and finally taking one of their own in the third. Patrick Brown's goal at 53, assisted by Anthony Greco, decided it.
Fribourg led inside three minutes through Jan Dorthe off a Marcus Sorensen feed, but Nicolas Mattinen tied it at 6 and the hosts took a 2-1 first-period edge on Jacob De La Rose's goal at 20, again set up by Sorensen. The middle frame was the swing: Leon Gawanke leveled at 32, Yannick Rathgeb restored the lead at 38, and Mattinen struck again 60 seconds later to make it 3-3 after two.
Mattinen's two goals were the difference-maker on the visitors' side, with Dan Renouf and Brooks Macek picking up the helpers. Sorensen assisted both Fribourg goals in the opening period; Mannheim's only unanswered goal of the night was the last one.
