Fomin S. defeated Imamura M. 6-2, 6-1 in the Astana Men's Singles, taking control early and never letting go. The win was built on serving and returning: Fomin won 31 of 47 service points and 13 of 20 second-serve points, while Imamura managed only five points from 17 second serves.
Fomin broke in game two of the opening set to lead 2-0 and added another break in game eight to clinch it 6-2. He repeated the pattern in the second set, breaking for 2-0 and again at 5-1 to finish the match. In total he converted three of five break points and saved both break points he faced.
The most telling stat was Fomin's 65% second-serve points won against Imamura's 29%, and he also collected 12 of 17 points against the Imamura second serve. Imamura, who did not convert a single break point, was left without a foothold in either set.
