Fiorentina eased into the Coppa Italia Round of 64 with a 4-1 win over Benevento, a result built on a ruthless first hour. Four goals by the 50th minute put the tie beyond reach before Benevento grabbed a late consolation.
Albert Guðmundsson struck after just two minutes, and Moise Kean doubled the lead in the 35th minute. Luca Ranieri and Cher Ndour added quick-fire goals early in the second half to make it 4-0, before Davide Lamesta's 54th-minute reply gave Benevento something to show for their effort.
Benevento actually had more of the ball, enjoying 61% possession and matching Fiorentina's shot count at 15 to 14. But Fiorentina were far more clinical, putting seven shots on target to Benevento's four and creating two big chances to none. They were outplayed in possession yet took their chances when it mattered.
