FC Porto made it two wins from two in the Primeira Liga with a 2-0 victory over FC Alverca at the Estádio do Dragão. Two first-half goals settled it, with Porto converting their big chances while Alverca found the home goalkeeper in fine form.
André Silva opened the scoring in the ninth minute, just a minute after Alverca goalkeeper Matheus Mendes was booked. Gabri Veiga doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time, and although Alverca pushed hard after the break, with four yellow cards in the game, they could not find a way back.
The scoreline flattered Porto in some respects — Alverca had 15 shots to Porto's 10 and five on target to four. But Porto's expected goals stood at 2.59 to 1.66, and they scored both of their big chances while Alverca missed three of theirs, leaving Porto worthy of the points.
