FC Eindhoven edged out Jong AZ Alkmaar 1-0 in the Eerste Divisie courtesy of a late goal. Owen Renfrum settled it in the 82nd minute, turning in Niek Munsters' assist. The match had been goalless until that point.
Jong AZ did most of the pressing and enjoyed 59% possession, but they could not find a way through. Renfrum's finish was the only goal of the game, and the win was sealed amid late pressure. Rens Boon was booked in the 3rd minute and Julian Oerip followed in the 90th.
The visitors were out-passed, with Jong AZ completing 450 accurate passes to their 274, and had fewer shots on target, three to five. Yet FC Eindhoven's expected goals stood at 1.17 against 0.83, and they took the one chance that mattered. It was an efficient away display rather than a dominant one.
