New York City FC II won 5-0 against FC Cincinnati 2 in MLS Next Pro, with the game decided inside the opening half-hour. They controlled possession and turned early pressure into a three-goal cushion.
Luka Sunjic opened the scoring in the fourth minute, and Jonathan Lopez doubled the lead in the 19th. Camilo Ponce added a third in the 28th minute, leaving the visitors with too much to do. Máximo Carrizo scored twice late on, in the 77th and 90th minutes, to complete the scoring.
Carrizo's brace was the individual highlight, but the margin also reflected the balance of play. New York City FC II had 60% possession and 503 accurate passes, while their goalkeeper made seven saves to keep the clean sheet. Although total shots were level at 16 apiece, the hosts put nine on target to Cincinnati's six and led on expected goals 1.32 to 0.80.
