Basel beat FC Thun 4-2 in the Super League, recovering from a slow start to race into a three-goal lead. Asane Sow's brace either side of the half-hour mark set the tone, and Žan Celar's strike early in the second period made it 3-0.
Sow struck after four minutes and again on 31. Celar added the third on 53, and although Layton Stewart pulled one back for Thun on 73, Xherdan Shaqiri's reply two minutes later sealed the points. Brighton Labeau's 90th-minute effort was no more than a consolation.
Sow had a hand in all four Basel goals, scoring twice and providing two assists. Thun dominated possession (53%) and had more shots (13 to 11), but Basel were ruthless, putting seven of their efforts on target to Thun's two. It was a performance built on efficiency rather than control.
