Everton beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in the Premier League, taking the points with a goal in each half from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry. The hosts were second best for much of the game but made their chances count, while Palace dominated the ball without finding a finish.
Dewsbury-Hall gave Everton the lead in the 42nd minute, converting after a Harrison Armstrong assist, and Barry doubled the advantage from Iliman Ndiaye's pass in the 53rd minute. Crystal Palace had more of the play after that but could not break through, and Daichi Kamada's 30th-minute yellow card was their only booking of the afternoon.
Crystal Palace finished with 58 per cent possession, 2.04 expected goals and four big chances, yet missed all four; Everton, with 1.16 xG, scored from one big chance and won despite having less of the ball. They had 16 shots to Palace's 11 and four saves from their goalkeeper, a sign of how much pressure they absorbed.
