HC Lugano edged EV Zug 3-2 in overtime, winning it in the extra period after twice erasing a Zug lead. The hosts never held an advantage in regulation and still walked off with the two points.
Sven Senteler put Zug ahead at 7 on a Vinzenz Rohrer feed, and Luca Fazzini answered at 30 off Zach Sanford to make it 1-1. Jan Kovar restored the Zug edge at 40 for 1-2, but Alessio Bertaggia tied it at 44 with Calvin Thurkauf assisting, and the 2-2 scoreline held to overtime.
The turning point was the four-minute window around the second intermission: Kovar's unassisted goal at 40, then Bertaggia's equalizer at 44. Lugano scored in the second, third and overtime — a goal in each frame after the opening 20 — while Zug's only goals came at 7 and 40.
