Energie Cottbus beat Hannover 96 3-1 in the 2. Bundesliga despite being second best for long spells. Tolcay Cigerci scored twice, and Cottbus made the most of their limited chances while Hannover wasted plenty.
Cigerci put Cottbus ahead in the 14th minute, but Maurice Neubauer levelled for Hannover in the 28th. Cigerci restored the lead in the 71st minute, and Justin Butler sealed it five minutes later after Luca Erlein's assist.
The stats show Hannover dominated: 26 shots to 12, 55% possession and 2.73 expected goals to 1.41. Yet Cottbus's goalkeeper made eight saves and Hannover missed six big chances, leaving Cottbus to take the points.
