Joel Grodowski scored three times as Arminia Bielefeld beat Energie Cottbus 3-0 in the 2. Bundesliga. He struck twice inside the first 37 minutes and added a third late on to settle the contest.
Grodowski put Bielefeld ahead after 26 minutes, with Henri Koudossou providing the assist. He doubled the lead 11 minutes later and completed the scoring in the 76th minute. Cottbus fell further behind and picked up four yellow cards, two of them in the 78th minute.
Cottbus dominated possession with 60% and completed 429 passes to Bielefeld's 269, yet they never tested the home goalkeeper, registering no shots on target. Bielefeld produced 16 shots, an expected-goals total of 3.56 and six big chances, and although they missed three of those chances, the margin of victory was rarely in doubt.
