Echargui M. swept past Lee J. 7-5, 6-1 at the Washington tournament, winning in straight sets. The key was Echargui's ruthless conversion of break points – she turned all four opportunities into breaks, while Lee saved only one of five.
The first set was tight with three breaks: Echargui struck first at 2-4, Lee levelled at 3-4, then Echargui broke again at 5-7 to seal the set. In the second set, Echargui raced away, breaking at 0-2 and 1-5 to close out the match, dropping just one game.
