Hurkacz H. beat Džumhur D. 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 at the US Open, recovering from a second-set slip with two emphatic sets. The win was built on nine breaks of serve and a 13-ace serving display.
Džumhur broke early and led 4-1 in the first set, but Hurkacz won five straight games, breaking in games 6, 8 and 10 to take it 6-4. Džumhur levelled with a break at 3-2 in the second set, but Hurkacz then broke twice in the third and cruised through the fourth 6-1.
Hurkacz's serve was the key difference: he hit 13 aces to none, won 61 service points to 47, and saved nine of 14 break points he faced. He converted nine of his 15 break-point chances, while Džumhur could not match that output on return.
