SaiPa Lappeenranta held on for a 3-2 win over Dynamo Pardubice in regulation, built almost entirely on a two-goal burst in the middle period. The Finns led 3-0 before Pardubice made the third period uncomfortable.
Petrus Palmu opened it at 18 minutes off a Brian Kramer feed for a 1-0 lead after 20. Einar Emanuelsson scored twice inside 34 and 35 minutes, assisted by Vertti Svensk and Petr Fridrich, and it was 3-0 before David Tomasek answered at 40 from Jiri Smejkal to make it 3-1 through two. Jan Kostalek's goal at 46, set up by Lukas Sedlak, cut it to 3-2 and that was the last of the scoring.
Emanuelsson's two goals inside 90 seconds of clock were the difference in a one-goal game. SaiPa were outscored 1-0 in the third and still closed it out; Pardubice got their two from Tomasek and Kostalek but never found the equalizer.
