J. Schwarzler beat A. Dougaz 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 at the ATP Challenger in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, winning both tiebreak sets. Dougaz produced the only two breaks of the match in the second set, but Schwarzler saved all three break points he faced in the opener and faced none in the decider.
The first set was settled in a tiebreak with no break points converted, and the third followed the same path after Dougaz took the middle set 6-3 with two breaks. In the decider Dougaz saved two break points, yet Schwarzler protected his serve throughout and won the tiebreak to close out the match.
Dougaz finished with more aces (12-9), more total points (97-87) and the only breaks, but Schwarzler’s serve held firm in the moments that counted. The decisive edge was his work in the two tiebreaks and his clean serving in the third set.
