Caroline Dolehide beat Mingge Xu 6-0, 6-4 in Guadalajara, controlling the match with a much steadier serve and five breaks to one. Dolehide landed 47 of 57 first serves (82%) and saved six of the seven break points she faced.
The opening set was one-way traffic: Dolehide broke in the first game to lead 0-2, again for 0-4 and once more to close it out at 0-6, winning six games in a row while putting all 20 of her first serves in play. Xu hit back early in the second, breaking for 1-0, but Dolehide broke back for 2-2 and again for 2-4; Xu found one more break at 4-5 before Dolehide broke straight back at 4-6 to finish it.
The standout number is the break-point column: Dolehide converted five of hers and saved 85% of Xu's, while Xu held serve just once in six service games and won only 16 of her 39 service points.
