Dinamo St. Petersburg earned a 6-4 regulation win over Izhstal Izhevsk, breaking open a tied game in the third period. Dinamo outscored the hosts 3-1 in the final frame after the teams went to the second intermission knotted at 3-3.
Izhstal opened the scoring early, striking at 2:00 and 13:00 before Dinamo answered at 16:00 to pull within one. Izhstal made it 3-1 at 30:00, but Dinamo countered at 31:00 and 38:00 to level the score. Izhstal pushed back ahead at 43:00, only for Dinamo to respond with goals at 46:00, 57:00 and 58:00 to seal the victory.
The decisive stretch was Dinamo's late push after falling behind early in the third: three unanswered goals in the final 12 minutes flipped a one-goal deficit into a two-goal road win.
