Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod grabbed the extra point with a 1-0 shootout win after a 3-3 deadlock through overtime. The KHL matchup stayed tight all night: 1-1 after one period, 3-2 after two, and 3-3 through regulation. Neither team broke through in overtime, so the shootout decided it.
Anton Sizov opened the scoring at 8:00 for Torpedo, and Chris Tierney answered at 11:00 to level it. Minsk seemed to take control when Sergei Kuznetsov at 26:00 and Maxim Maltsev at 27:00 made it 3-1, but Daniil Zhuravlyov pulled one back at 29:00. Nikita Kamalov then completed the road comeback at 49:00.
All six regulation goals were scored by six different players, a sign of how evenly matched the teams were. The final separation came only in the shootout, where Torpedo converted once and Dinamo Minsk did not. Minsk won the second period 2-1, but Torpedo took the third 1-0 and the shootout 1-0, which proved decisive.
