Deportivo Cali beat Deportivo Pasto 2-0 in the Primera A Apertura, taking the points with a goal in each half. The visitors were the more clinical side, while Pasto dominated possession without reward.
Steven Rodríguez put Cali ahead in the 33rd minute, converting Johan Martínez's assist to make it 0-1. Eduard Bello doubled the lead in the 65th minute from Gustavo Cuéllar's pass, and that proved the decisive moment as Pasto could not respond.
The numbers underline the contrast: Pasto had 62% possession and 449 accurate passes to Cali's 247, but Cali had 17 shots – six on target – to Pasto's 10 and four. Cali also led expected goals 0.94 to 0.26 and scored their one big chance, while Pasto missed theirs. Dominance on the ball counted for little against Cali's sharper finishing.
