The first set swung early as Dart broke at 1-0, but Preston broke back at 2-2 and again at 2-4 to take the set. The second set saw six breaks of serve; Preston broke at 0-1, 1-2, and crucially at 3-4 and 3-6, while Dart replied each time until the final break sealed the match.
