Mackenzie J. beat Dahlin M. 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 at the ATP Challenger Bonn, taking a tight three-setter behind two breaks and a composed finish in the decider. Dahlin's heavier serving kept him in the match, but Mackenzie converted the more important chances.
Mackenzie broke early in the opener at 2-1 and held on to win the first set 6-4. Dahlin levelled by breaking in the 12th game of the second set to take it 7-5. In the decider, the only break came in game nine, putting Mackenzie 5-4 up, and he served out the set.
Dahlin out-aced Mackenzie 9-3, yet Mackenzie won 38 return points to 23 and saved all three break points he faced in the final set. That return edge and a 103-87 total-point advantage decided the match.
