Dougaz A. edged out Cui J. 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 at the Astana men's singles, clinching the match with a break in the final game of the decider.
Dougaz raced through the opener, breaking in the fourth and eighth games for a 6-2 lead. Cui flipped the script in the second set, breaking at 2-1 and saving all seven break points he faced to take it 6-4. In the third, Cui broke early, but Dougaz levelled at 2-2 and struck again in the 12th game to seal the win.
Cui showed remarkable fight, saving nine of twelve break points across the match, but it was not enough. Dougaz's seven aces and 97 total points to 91 proved decisive, and his final break was the one that counted.
