Charlotte FC beat Columbus Crew 3-1 in MLS. Two goals inside the opening nine minutes, from Brandt Bronico and Liel Abada, set them on their way.
Bronico's opener came in the first minute, with David Schnegg providing the assist, and Abada struck unassisted in the ninth. Chase Adams pulled a goal back for Columbus in the 41st minute, but Pep Biel secured the win with a 73rd-minute goal assisted by Rodolfo Aloko.
Columbus had more of the ball, holding 52% possession, yet did not manage a single shot on target. Charlotte registered two shots on target and two big chances, and their expected-goals advantage of 0.31 to 0.00 underlined the gap in the penalty area.
