Columbus Crew 2 beat New York City FC II 4-2 in a lively MLS Next Pro contest. Kevin Gbamblé scored twice, the last in the 90th minute, and Owen Presthus added a quickfire double to settle the match. The home side led through Gbamblé's 14th-minute goal before Cooper Flax equalised for New York on the stroke of half-time.
Columbus regained control after the break, with Owen Presthus scoring in the 54th and 59th minutes to make it 3-1. Luka Sunjic pulled one back for NYCFC II in the 90th minute, but Kevin Gbamblé struck again in the same minute to seal the 4-2 win. Rui Aoki and Immanuel Ewing were shown yellow cards in the 21st and 85th minutes.
Despite having 54% possession and an expected-goals figure of 2.26, NYCFC II were undone by Columbus's finishing. The home side created five big chances to three and scored two of them, while the visitors converted only one of their three. Columbus also had the better of the shot count, 14 to 12, and their goalkeeper made six saves to three by his opposite number.
