Gilberto Mora scored twice as Club Tijuana beat Pumas UNAM 2-0 in the Primera Division Apertura. A goalless first half was broken open by Mora's 53rd-minute opener, and Pumas' hopes faded when Pablo Bennevendo saw red six minutes later.
Mora struck in the 53rd minute to put Tijuana ahead. Bennevendo was then sent off in the 59th minute, and Mora added a second in the 81st to seal the win.
Tijuana were the sharper side, creating three big chances to none and posting a 2.50 expected goals tally against Pumas' 0.44. Both sides managed three shots on target, but the home goalkeeper made three saves as they kept a clean sheet.
