Cruz Azul claimed a convincing 3-1 win at Club Necaxa in the Primera Division Apertura, with a dominant attacking display taking the game away from the hosts inside the opening hour. Three goals from open play put them in complete control before a late Necaxa consolation.
Jeremy Márquez opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, finishing off Carlos Rodríguez’s assist. Nicolás Ibáñez doubled the lead in the 46th minute, again from Carlos Rodríguez’s pass, and Willer Ditta made it 3-0 seven minutes after the restart. Miguel Rodriguez pulled one back for Necaxa in the 83rd minute from Pedro Pedraza’s assist, but Cruz Azul were never threatened thereafter.
The visitors dominated the underlying numbers, finishing with 22 shots and eight on target to Necaxa’s 13 and four, while also holding 54% possession. Cruz Azul created three big chances and posted an expected-goals figure of 1.78 against Necaxa’s 0.48, underlining their superiority in a one-sided contest.
